Obituary for Clayton W Foglesong

Clayton Ward Foglesong, 88, of Quincy, died peacefully on January 30, 2019. He was born on October 3, 1930 in Missouri. Clayton was the 7th of 10 children. When he was 13 he moved to Washington to work on his sister’s dairy farm. He eventually went back to Missouri to marry his childhood sweetheart and neighbor, Elizabeth Ann Dodson whom he won over despite her initial impression of him as ornery. They were married on December 8, 1950. Clayton convinced Ann to venture west and they eventually settled in Quincy in 1961 where they raised 4 boys. Clayton was a successful farmer and businessman and in true farmer fashion, he continued to help his boys with the farm long after his retirement.

Clayton is preceded in death by his parents, his 9 siblings, his oldest son Jim and his grandson Jay.

He is survived by his loving wife of 68 years, 3 sons: John (Vicky), Bill, and Jack (Velma);
Daughter-in-law Arlene, 5 grandchildren: Craig, Lisa (Tim), Jill (Anthony), Lance (Laura), and Austin; great grandson Clayton; and “adopted” son Jacob Torrez.

In accordance with Clayton’s wishes, there will be no services.
